In a Vase on Monday: Lovin’ It

…lovin’ the abundance of the garden and the opportunity to cut generously for my Monday vase!

This week’s vase, a clear glass vase with a scooped neck, the back being a little taller than the front, is abundantly filled with dahlias: deep pink ‘Dorothy Rose’, soft-pink-but-looking-more-like-lilac ‘Rossendale Parkey’ and ‘White Onesta’. Greenery is courtesy of what is probably native meadow rue, a useful feathery addition to vases but with a tendency to become rather entrenched; stems of Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’ were also cut but looked superfluous in the vase and were removed.

Roaming the house for potential props and with no inspiration yet for a title, I chanced upon this Carlton Ware (Walking Ware) mug, produced I think for Valentine’s Day in the late 1980s, and which displays similar colours to the dahlias: an adequate choice.
