And sometimes what we get for our toil only happens when the toil is pursued to completion – that’s a hard part. There is a huge difference between starting something and finishing it.
Because of that, when you finish something, take the time to respect what you have accomplished – and think twice about throwing yourself into the fray for something new.
I know when I finish my mainstream trilogy, probably five years from now, I will have sunk twenty seven years into the task – and I will have to think deeply about whether I can or want to do that again.
