What do you see # 50 5th October’20

( For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a young man lounging against a door jamb with a hat held against his chest. The young man is quite a looker! )
Young Hope
From my office window I can see him
Each day he stands in the same spot
Hat in hand, hoping one of our film directors
spots his dashing good looks
He knows when they start work
And when they finish
It’s been weeks now
And no one has approached him
Strange, I never see him eat or go for coffee
No one talks to him, our security guards
don’t ask him to move on
I will speak to him after work
He’s gone before I can get there
I stood where he did, feel his presence
Smell the brylcreem from his hair
Feel the heavy weight that holds him there
His chance of stardom never came
For the last three weeks
I have been looking at a ghost
of young hope with stars in his eyes…
