Wild rose – Cee’s photo challenge

rose2I love flowers… who doesn’t? And roses are amongst my favourites. I have many stories to share about roses… from the deep, red ones with thick, velevety petals that used to grow around my great grandmother’s gate, to the flower bed full of roses delivered, with their roots on, as gifts from dear friends.

I could tell you of the bouquet of red roses delivered to my door with champagne … or of the three roses, two in full bloom, one in bud, that were placed in my hand when my son was born by the friend who would be his godfather.

Roses seem to have a special meaning for many people. Perhaps it is the ‘snare of perfume’ they wrap around our hearts, or the glimpse of perfection in theirs.

Yet for me, none are lovelier than this, a simple wild rose, found in an English hedgerow.
